The Vacation-Rental Turnover Checklist That Keeps 5-Star Reviews
Guests notice everything in the first five minutes of a stay — and they write about it in reviews. A turnover clean isn't just tidying up between guests; it's protecting your rating. Here's the checklist we run on every vacation-rental turnover.
Before the clean starts
- Confirm checkout has actually happened and note any damage or missing items to flag for the owner
- Check the booking calendar for the exact window before the next check-in
The full turnover pass
- Kitchen: dishes washed and put away, appliances wiped down inside and out, trash and recycling emptied, fridge checked for anything left behind
- Bathrooms: full sanitizing pass, fresh towels set out, toiletries restocked per your standing checklist
- Bedrooms: fresh linens on every bed, surfaces dusted, floors vacuumed or mopped
- Living areas: remote controls and light switches wiped down, floors cleaned, furniture reset to the listing photos
- Final walkthrough: a last pass specifically looking for anything a guest would notice in the first sixty seconds — hair on the bathroom floor, smudges on the entry mirror, dust on the welcome-basket table
After the clean
We restock consumables per your standing list — coffee, paper towels, soap — and send a photo confirmation once the unit is guest-ready, so you know it's done without having to check yourself.
Why the small stuff is the whole game
Nobody leaves a bad review because the walls weren't repainted. They leave one because there was a hair in the shower or the trash wasn't taken out. A consistent, same-day turnover process is what keeps a 5-star average intact stay after stay.
If you manage one listing or a dozen, get an instant quote and we'll build a standing turnover schedule around your booking calendar.
